Copying Documents Overview

Copying Documents is an Advanced Content Editing feature that simplifies collaborative work between users who are working in multiple spaces. 

Copying documents involves:

  • Page Styles
  • Exporting documents
  • Importing documents




Page Styles

Page Styles can be viewed and downloaded for copying-documents purpose. 

  1. Ensure you're in the correct Organisation and Space
  2. Navigate to Themes
  3. Navigate to the theme name and click View Page Styles
  4. In Page Styles, click the drop-down box and select View Style Assets
  5. Click Download Page Styles to download the page styles onto your machine.



Exporting Documents (Copying Documents)

Documents can be exported from a Space.

Documents must be exported in XML format if they're to be imported into another Space.


  1. Ensure you're in the correct Organisation and Space
  2. Create a Document Version of your document with its theme included
  3. Export the document to XML
  4. A wizard step will appear asking you want to include themes in the import - select Yes or No

  5. Click Start Export
  6. Once the export is completed, you can download the XML file by clicking Download

Since the document has been exported, it can be download an imported into another Space in the same or (different Organisation).



Importing Documents (Copying Documents)

After exporting the document you can import that document into a Space.

You can import documents using the API but for this instance, we'll be importing XML content.

  1. Ensure you're in the correct Organisation and Space
  2. Enter the Document Categories of the Space
  3. Click on Import

  4. Select the XML file you just exported after clicking Choose File

  5. Click on Start to begin the import
  6. After the import has finalised, you maybe greeted with some conflicts arising inside the document such as field types or themes. You can select what you'd like to do with each conflict.

  7. Once the outcomes have been selected, you can click on Continue to finalise the Import

  8. Click Done after the import has finished successfully

    You have successfully imported a document from XML and can view the document and pages inside the Space.
