Before you begin

Before you can export content from Carbon Editor in a DOCX format, you must have a custom Word theme.

If you would like additional support for a Word theme for your content, please contact Liquid State Support.

Styling a Word Export

Word exports are styled using a template document, which defines a preset set of styles that are used for the conversion. To get started, you need to download the template document.

Configuring the styles

To configure each style in the template document, you:

  1. Open the template document in Word

  2. Each style will be presented with demo text, usually the style name

  3. Locate the style you want to change

  4. Restyle the demo text to your liking

  5. Locate the style in the styles pane at the top of the document; it will have a selected border, and usually the same name as the demo text

  6. Right-click on the style and select "Update Style to match selection"

  7. Save the document

Uploading the template document

Once you have configured the styles in the template document, you need to upload it to the style assets. To do this, you:

  1. Ensure your document is called "reference.docx"

  2. Create a new zip file containing only "reference.docx"

  3. Create a new Document Theme using Word format and save it

  4. From the list of available document themes, click on the View Page Styles button next to the Word document theme you just created

  5. Navigate to the Upload Assets page under the Edit button’s dropdown options

  6. Upload your "reference.docx" zip file

  7. To check that your assets have been uploaded correctly, navigate to the View Style Assets page under the Edit button’s dropdown options

Your uploaded assets should display as a single entry in the asset list; it should be named "reference.docx".
