Overview

To get an Android app before it is released on the public Google Play Store, you can be invited to install the app via Play Store Beta testing.

This installs the app from the real Play Store, but only people who have been opted in to access the app can see it. 


Before you begin

Before you can install the app, you need to ensure the Google account that you are signed in to the Play Store with is already opted in.

Provide this detail to the person managing the Beta app access so they can opt-in your account.



Instructions

  1. Once your email address has been opted-in, the person managing the Beta app access will send you an opt-in link.
    It will look something like: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/______
  2. Open the opt-in link in the internet browser on your device
  3. You will see a webpage with a link to Become a Tester
  4. Tap this link, and you will be taken to the Play Store app
  5. In the Play Store app, tap Install
    1. You may need to enter your Google Play account password to authorise the installation

The app will be installed on to your device and will be visible in your apps list like any other app.
